Pakistan has been in a constant conflict ever since they gained independence in 1947. The conflict in Malalas book is a lot about the Taliban. The Taliban formed in the early 1990s, not too long ago. They took over the country and never stepped down. They are in control of Pakistan.
The Taliban have never stopped being in control. Not even did they try decreasing their violence after shooting Malala and gaining so much hatred from people around the world. They try to stop education. Malala said in the book that the Taliban would never go for a girl; but now they go for everyone.
In December of 2014, the Taliban attacked a military run school killing at least 140 people and leaving 121 students and 3 staff members wounded. In June of 2014, the Taliban shot attacked Karachi's Jinnah International Airport, leaving 28 people dead, including 10 attackers, and 24 people injured. The government hasn't done much about the Taliban, they just let them take over.
Those mentioned above are recent attacks, so it's still something occurring in Pakistan. Attacks the Taliban do can be and usually are daily, whether it's killing people, bombing people, or beating people. They control a lot of the country. Ever since they emerged they have been controlling it, making people obey what they have to say. They don't care what the world thinks about them, for many years all they have done is what they will continue to do, until someone stops them.
